DA Mark Bensen Refuses to Comment on Low Bail for DoorDash Shooting Suspect

DA Mark Bensen doesn't want to talk about the low bail in two pending felony cases for the man accused of blasting a shotgun at a DoorDash delivery driver. Washington County District Attorney Mark Bensen is refusing to comment on the low bail that allowed the DoorDash shooting suspect John Norman to be free on two pending felony cases before the shooting. "No comment from District Attorney on prior bonds," Bensen's legal secretary responded to us after we requested comment from Bensen. DA Mark Bensen was initially named Washington County's top prosecutor by former Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle in 2010. Wisconsin Right Now reached out to Bensen for comment after learning that suspect John Norman was released on a signature bond and then $300 bail in two serious pending felony cases, including one for a violent crime and one for bail jumping. John Norman: West Bend DoorDash Shooting Suspect Was Out on Signature Bond in Felony Case

John Norman, the Town of Barton man accused of shooting at a West Bend DoorDash driver, was free on a signature bond and on $300 bail in two previous felony cases, Wisconsin Right Now has learned. The driver, who was delivering a pizza to the home, was not injured. In the second open felony case against Norman - for bail jumping on the first one - John Joseph Norman was released just a week before the DoorDash incident on $300 without having an initial appearance, which wasn't scheduled until March. Norman's Facebook page says he is from Cedarburg and is owner-operator at Norman Services. He also goes by the name Jack Norman. Bail reform has been a topic of interest in Wisconsin since the Waukesha parade attack. Much of that controversy has focused on Milwaukee County. Thony Renelique: Trucker Backed up on I-45, Killing Man, Sheriff Says

"He activated his hazard lights and then began a backing maneuver on the highway. While backing up on the freeway the trailer was struck," - Washington County Sheriff's Department Thony Renelique is a 48-year-old Florida man who is accused of putting his semi truck in reverse on I-45, killing a 49-year-old West Bend man. "A 48-year-old Florida man was arrested in Darien, Illinois Sunday morning by Washington County Sheriff investigators with the assistance of local authorities in connection to a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Friday night around 8:00p.m. on USH 45 near STH 60," the Washington County Sheriff's Department wrote in a Jan. 10, 2022, news release. "Thony Renelique remains in custody in Du Page County, Illinois, awaiting extradition back to Wisconsin. Renelique has been charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.
