Scott Walker: Ending Act 10 Would Give Wisconsin Schools Back to Union Bosses

Image
The man who signed Act 10 into law is predicting an expensive turnaround if the Wisconsin Supreme Court overturns it. Former Gov. Scott Walker was a guest on Madison television over the weekend. He told Channel 3000’s For the Record that ending Act 10 would weaken voters, parents and communities, and give more power to Wisconsin’s public sector unions. "I want to make sure that in this school district and every other school district across the country and every other municipality and county, that the people that we elect locally are the ones in charge, that we don't go back to a system where a handful of union bosses called the shots across the state," the former governor said. A handful of public sector unions last week asked the new liberal-majority court to overturn Act 10. The unions argue the law creates two groups of public sector union workers, and therefore violates the Wisconsin Constitution’s equal protection clause. Walker became extremely unpopular w

Biden Impeachment Inquiry Builds Evidence

Image
The impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden is gaining momentum as more evidence comes out to back allegations that the president himself financially benefited from the overseas business dealings of his son, Hunter. While Republicans will find it very difficult to get the needed supermajority to impeach Biden, the mounting evidence and media coverage would be another obstacle for Biden to overcome as he campaigns for reelection. The House Oversight Committee, led by Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., has filed a flurry of subpoenas in the investigation of Biden family members and associates this month, starting with Hunter Biden, the president’s son, James Biden, the president’s brother, and their business associate Bob Walker. Comer then sent subpoenas for Hunter Biden’s business associates, Mervyn Yan and Eric Schwerin, as well as his gallerist, George Bergès, and art patron, Elizabeth Naftali. As The Center Square previously reported , Hunter Biden’s art business has come u

Badger Institute: Milwaukee Driving Crime Spike, Criminal Justice System Failing

A new deep dive into Wisconsin crime statistics shows a growing problem with crime in Milwaukee as well as a failing criminal justice system in the rest of the state. The Badger Institute released four new reports on Tuesday, each looking at a different facet of the criminal justice system. 1) A Tale of Two States: Wisconsin Crime Trends, 2017-2022 2) Toward Swifter Justice: Overburdened Prosecutors & Public Defenders Linked to WI Court Backlogs 4) The Thinning Blue Line: Milwaukee Police Department’s Attrition Crisis 5) Saving Money, Encouraging Work and Improving Safety Through More Rigorous Electronic Monitoring The headline-grabbing news is what the Badger Institute's Mike Nichols calls a Tale of Two States. “Milwaukee has 10% of the state’s population, but it has an enormous share of the state’s crime,” Nichols said. “In 2021, Milwaukee had 60% of homicides, 53% of aggravated assaults, 68% of auto thefts. It’s so hard to talk about statewide crime with

Gableman’s 2020 Election Investigation Paused

The investigation into Wisconsin’s last vote for president is on hold. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos on Wednesday said he is pausing the investigation from former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman. “We are pausing the investigation because it's not like we're going to keep looking into things we've already discovered," Vos told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Vos said he is placing the investigation on hold until a series of lawsuits are settled. Judges in both Madison and Waukesha have yet to rule on the power that Gableman has, specifically whether he can subpoena witnesses and compel testimony. There are three other lawsuits dealing with open records requests in the case. Democrats at the Wisconsin Capitol have called the investigation a partisan fishing expedition and a waste of taxpayer money.

'Election Bribery Scheme' Among Zuckerberg 5 Included in Gableman Investigation

Gableman said 100% of the people living in the nursing homes he investigated in Milwaukee, Racine, and Dane counties voted during the November 2020 election.  The probe into the 2020 presidential election from Wisconsin’s special election investigator covers exactly what lawmakers were expecting . And it goes into previously unknown detail. Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Mike Gableman on Tuesday delivered his 136-page report to the State Assembly, alleging an “election bribery scheme” existed, voting in nursing homes was at an unprecedented high, and multiple incidents involved unlawful election activities. The sweeping investigation covers the lead-up to the November 2020 election former President Donald Trump claims was stolen from him, the effort to count the Badger State votes, and Gableman's assessment of what happened. He argues that Wisconsin lawmakers can recall the state’s electors, but also said that would not cancel President Biden’s victory in Wisconsin.
