Milwaukee Ald. Bauman Says 'No One Wants...Strong Enforcement' on Water Street

Milwaukee Ald. Robert Bauman, whose district covers part of Water Street , wrote a constituent that "it appears no one wants to see strong enforcement" to stop the violence and chaos in the key entertainment district, even though he admitted its "viability" is "at risk." In the messages obtained by Wisconsin Right Now , Bauman blamed Mayor Tom Barrett, saying that Barrett is "calling the shots" and his plan is "not working." Bauman passed the buck and said there are "few options" and his own input was not requested. We asked for a sit-down interview with Barrett about the Water Street violence, but he declined an interview. Witness Describes Diamond Arberry Murder at Water Street [VIDEO]

"She was running away and was struck in the back." - a witness. More than one person was shooting that night. A 24 year old woman, Diamond Arberry. was murdered early Saturday morning at Water and Michigan Streets after a wild fight involving multiple people spilled outside a nightclub, as the City of Milwaukee continues to fail to prevent the dangerous scenes unfolding in its popular entertainment district downtown. Men Accused of Throwing Explosive at Milwaukee Cops Given Signature Bonds

There was a day in Milwaukee when injuries to police officers were treated seriously. That day appears to have passed. Here's the latest in the Milwaukee police explosives case: Two of the three men who are accused of throwing a powerful explosive at two Milwaukee police officers on Water Street, injuring them, were given signature bonds by two different Milwaukee court commissioners, David Sweet and Rosa Barillas. A third man accused of throwing an explosive in another incident not involving police was also given a signature bond, Wisconsin Right Now has learned. Signature bonds mean that a person can walk out of the jail without putting up any cash. Their signature is all that's needed to be released. It's part of a national trend toward "bail reform."
