Four lawmen on the U.S. Marshals Task Force died Monday while serving an arrest warrant in North Carolina. A marshal and two officers from the Department of Adult Correction were confirmed killed early Monday evening in Charlotte. A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer, one of five others injured in the standoff and shooting, died later in the evening at a hospital. The graphic scene unfolded as officers attempted to serve the warrant for a felony firearm arrest. A helicopter pilot recording for television decided against filing certain elements of the video footage for broadcast. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said Joshua Eyer, the officer who died later at the hospital, “certainly gave his life and dedicated his life to protecting our citizens.” Eyer earlier in April was named officer of the month. Balance of Power Retains Status Quo at Wisconsin Capitol

The next four years at the Wisconsin Capitol are likely to be the same as the last four years. Governor Evers took the governor's mansion. The Republicans held on to the legislature but fell just short of a supermajority. That means the same kind of split government that Wisconsin has seen for the past four years. “Republicans won't have a supermajority in the state Assembly. Gov. She didn’t run again. Republicans needed to take five seats in the Assembly in order to get a supermajority there. They grabbed three seats. The top Democrat in the Assembly, Rep. Greta Neubauer, said stopping a Republican supermajority is something to celebrate. “With the governor’s

The violent crime wave poll also found that two-thirds of those surveyed believe increasing funding police would reduce crime. Three out of four Americans say defunding police departments has contributed to the rise in violent crime across the country, according to a new poll. A Politico/Morning Consult poll released Wednesday found that 75% of surveyed Americans say that “the defunding of police departments” is “a reason that violent crime is increasing in the United States.” The survey reports that 49% said defunding police was a “major reason” for the rise in violent crime while 26% said it was a “minor reason.” Only 25% said it was “not a reason” for the spike in violent crime. Experts have  echoed   the point that the defund movement leads to more violent crime, saying police officers fear a lack of support from their departments if they are involved in a fatal shooting. This leads to them avoiding more dangerous neighborhoods altogether. The violent crime wave poll also
