FACT CHECK: In Presidential Debate, Harris Deflects on Border Record

Image
During the presidential debate on Tuesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris deflected when answering questions on the ongoing border crisis. When asked “why did the administration wait until six months before the election to act” on the border crisis, and if she would have done anything differently from President Joe Biden, Harris didn’t answer the question. She deflected by repeating the claim she’s previously made that she prosecuted transnational criminal organizations when she was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017. “I'm the only person on this stage who has prosecuted transnational criminal organizations for the trafficking of guns drugs and human beings,” she said. She also repeated a claim that she would sign a U.S. Senate border bill that went nowhere in the Democratic controlled Senate. “Some of the most conservative members of the United States Senate came up with the border security bill which I supported,” she said. “That bill would have pu...

Wisconsin Republicans Approve Bills on Girls Sports, Gender Affirming Care for Children

Most of Thursday’s debate in the Wisconsin Assembly focused on science and feelings. Republicans in the State Assembly approved two bills that declare girls sports in the state for biological girls only and a third bill that would ban gender affirming care for children. Gov. Tony Evers has promised to veto all three, but Assembly Speaker Robin Vos defended the ideas as what is right for Wisconsin and Wisconsin families. Vos also said claims the “science is settled” about transgendered youth are off base. “I think we are now seeing around the world that other countries have begun to look and say what science said should be done to minors clearly is wrong and other countries are beginning to transition to a way that is a much more affirmative care model that is not focused on trying to do things that are potentially harmful in the long run,” Vos said. “Hopefully Gov. Evers has a change of heart ,and we have the ability to send these bills to be at the forefront of the effort th...

Fetterman, Oz Debate Economy, Offer Support to Forgotten Pennsylvanians,’ American Dream [WATCH FULL DEBATE]

The long-awaited debate between Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and Dr. Mehmet Oz for Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seat showed the candidates attempting to show their fitness for office amid health scares and personal attacks. The Tuesday night debate was the most significant platform that Democrat Fetterman has appeared in and fielded public questions since suffering a stroke in May. During the debate, he used closed captioning technology to understand what was being said due to auditory processing issues. He didn’t have trouble processing the questions and Oz’s statements but did stumble through most of his responses. Nevertheless, he positioned himself as a strong supporter of President Joe Biden who stands up for forgotten Pennsylvanians. Republican Oz portrayed himself as the embodiment of the American Dream and opportunity who wants to unite Americans and push for change. The candidates are vying for the seat held by Republican Pat Toomey, who decided not to seek reelection. T...
