Today our law enforcement faces some of the greatest challenges in its history and needs experienced leadership more than ever. An important part of being a good sheriff is representing Wauk

Op-Ed: Kleefisch is Law Enforcement’s Choice for Safer Neighborhoods

By Pete Deates I’ve served as a police officer in the Kenosha area for 20 years. For the men and women like me who serve in law enforcement, this has been a challenging few years. We’ve faced calls for defunding our departments. We’ve been used as political pawns by elected officials. We’ve witnessed our fellow officers be physically attacked, shot at, and in the worst-case killed while serving their fellow citizens. Sadly, the rioting in Kenosha was a stark reminder that we can’t count on Governor Evers to have our back. Governor Evers and Lt. Governor Barnes both issued inflammatory statements and abandoned law enforcement. They turned their back on us when we needed their support the most. Unfortunately, that feeling of abandonment is all too common among law enforcement officers around the state. Tony Evers has stood idly by while local governments slashed department budgets and made it more difficult for us to keep our communities safe. His failure to stand with law enforce

Op-Ed: Madison Elite Hyperbole & The Attempt to Demonize Tim Michels

Whenever a new candidate announces for a high-profile political race, the internet becomes infested with miles and miles of hyperbolic political doublespeak. The recent, late-hour entry into the Governor’s race by conservative businessman Tim Michels proved to be a major shock to the establishment. The party elites were in the middle of their Rebecca Kleefisch anointment process when the buzz came out that Michels was going to officially enter the race. This was in direct conflict with their Rebecca ‘inevitability’ strategy and the elites immediately had to circle the wagons. They immediately turned their turrets away from the current anti-establishment candidate, Kevin Nicholson , and set their sights directly on Tim Michaels. As I was busy seeing the buzz all over social media, I noticed a specific pattern coming from some Nicholson supporters but especially coming from many Kleefisch supporters. If someone did not know any better and just listened to the hyperbole being

Elon Musk to Buy Twitter for $44 billion

Image
Tesla CEO Elon Musk reached an agreement Monday to buy social media giant Twitter for about $44 billion. Musk, the world's wealthiest person, has criticized the social media giant's practice of censoring content. "Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated," Musk said in a statement after Monday's agreement was reached. "I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it." Eon Musk will pay $54.20 per share in the deal, which was unanimously approved by the Twitter Board of Directors. Twitter has been mired in accusations of censorship for years, earning particular scorn from cons

It's Official! Bob Donovan Announces Run for State Assembly

Image
After his loss in the Milwaukee mayoral race, Bob Donovan announced Monday he's running for the 84th State Assembly seat. Republican candidate and former Milwaukee Alderman, Bob Donovan, announced today that he will run for state Assembly in the 84 th  District. Upon his announcement, Donovan released the following statement: “First and foremost, I believe I have a great deal to offer and continue to want to make a difference—I believe public service is my vocation in life. Second, as we are all aware, the chaos going on in Milwaukee continues to spread to Milwaukee suburbs and I want to play a role in stopping that. Third, a partnership with the state of Wisconsin is essential to meaningfully addressing the Milwaukee area’s public safety and fiscal challenges—if a partnership is created, I would like to play a role in just how that looks. “I’ve fought the good fight in Milwaukee’s City Hall. I plan to take my common-sense conservative message to Madison to make effective cha

Police Body Camera Videos Show Milwaukee Mayor's Mother, Brother at Standoff [READ SEARCH WARRANT]

Wisconsin Right Now was the only media outlet to request the Milwaukee police body cam videos showing the arrest of Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson's brother for allegedly shooting a man in the head. They show the mayor's mother discussing defusing an "incident" with another son the night before. She didn't name him. Milwaukee Police body camera videos and a search warrant affidavit obtained by Wisconsin Right Now looking into the arrest of Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson's brother Allen Addison reveal for the first time that police believed Addison was holed up inside the N. 41st St. home with the mayor's aunt and uncle during a two-hour standoff. They also show that Milwaukee police believed they had probable cause to search the home for a gun, ammunition, and "personal identifiers of residents of the residence," but the office of Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm refused to approve the request. “While police officers and

We Won! Facebook Removes Ban on Wisconsin Right Now's Page After Outcry

Image
Facebook has removed its ban on Wisconsin's top-ranked conservative news site, republishing Wisconsin Right Now after a major outcry erupted. “After reviewing your appeal, your Page Wisconsin Right Now has been published. This means it can now be viewed publicly," the social media giant announced on Saturday, April 24, 2022. On top of that, all the restrictions Facebook had put on the page were removed. Restrictions were put in place after our fact-based analysis of the Rittenhouse trial, including the inability for WRN to invite new followers to the page, putting WRN's post low down in followers' news feed, giving notice to potential followers that the page had violated Facebook's TOS in the past, and restricting WRN co-founder Jim Piwowarczyk from Facebook Live. Facebook's action reversed its bizarre decision to "unpublish" Wisconsin Right Now's Facebook page for no reason, robbing Wisconsin voters of the ability to learn the other side a

Facebook Allows Same Famous Falling Man Image It Banned Wisconsin Right Now Over

Image
Ironically, the entire point of the famous Falling Man image and story was that the images of 9/11 should not be censored. Facebook banned the page of Wisconsin's award-winning conservative news site, Wisconsin Right Now, over a story share that included the iconic "Falling Man" image from Sept. 11, 2011 and discussed that famous story. According to Facebook, this share violated their community standards on suicide. However, the social media giant has allowed the same image to proliferate on MANY pages without problem, Wisconsin Right Now has documented. That's sheer hypocrisy. [Read the Federalist's story on the censorship here. ] Here's what happened. Wisconsin's top-ranked independent online conservative news site, which has had almost 8 million reads since 2020, shared a story in August 2021 of a news article comparing the famous Falling Man story with the people who died falling out of planes in Kabul, Afghanistan, during Joe Biden's disast

Ron Johnson, Governor Candidates Slam Facebook for Banning Top WI Conservative News Page Before Midterms

Image
Because Wisconsin Right Now aggressively covers political stories the media twist or ignore, Facebook's censorship is giving Democrats an unfair advantage in a key battleground state with the midterm elections looming. U.S. Senator Ron Johnson and prominent Republican candidates for Wisconsin governor, attorney general, and U.S. Congress, are condemning Facebook for banning an award-winning , top-ranked Wisconsin conservative news site's page before the midterm elections for no reason, with Johnson calling the action a "true danger to our democracy." Republican candidates for governor Rebecca Kleefisch and Kevin Nicholson also criticized Facebook's action, as did Attorney General candidate Eric Toney, state Sen. Julian Bradley and state Rep. Rick Gundrum. Toney pledged to "work with state and federal attorneys general to use antitrust laws to hold big tech accountable" if he wins the AG's race, slamming Facebook's censorship of Wisconsin

Send Fighting Bob Donovan to Madison [OP-ED]

Bob Donovan Madison bound? Hopefully. Milwaukee’s missed opportunity can be Wisconsin’s gain. Send Fighting Bob Donovan to Madison Over the past 20 years or so, when talking about politics in the Milwaukee Metropolitan area, one would be hard pressed to hear a conversation without the mention of long-time Milwaukee South Side Alderman, ‘Fighting’ Bob Donovan. Having been the Conservative Champion and usually the lone voice of sanity on the Milwaukee Common Council, Bob Donovan is no stranger to standing up and at least giving Milwaukee area conservatives a seat at the table. Donovan recently ran for Milwaukee Mayor, and even against insurmountable odds, he still got into the fight, and he never stopped.  After losing his battle to become Milwaukee’s Mayor, he could have just taken his political marbles and gone home. Nobody would have blamed him. Instead ‘Fighting’ Bob fights on. You see, through adversity, comes opportunity. He will not go quietly into the good night. He ha

University School of Milwaukee Accuses Michelle Obama's Brother & His Wife of 'Bullying,' Creating Unsafe Environment

Image
The head of University School of Milwaukee is accusing the brother-in-law of former President Barack Obama and his wife of repeatedly engaging in "disrespectful, demanding, and bullying conduct toward and relating to our teachers and administrators," depriving the latter of a "physically and emotionally safe environment," according to an email obtained exclusively by Wisconsin Right Now. Steve Hancock, head of the prestigious Wisconsin school, alleges in his email that Craig and Kelly Robinson, who launched a national media blitz against the school earlier this week, "had badly mischaracterized" three worksheets that were used in 5th-grade classrooms. In a lawsuit, the Robinsons previously accused USM of a “persistent failure to fulfill its promise of an inclusive and diverse learning environment.” They claimed their children’s enrollment was terminated after they complained about alleged racism at the school and in the curriculum. Craig Robinson told

Tim Michels Joins Governor's Race; Almost $1 Million TV Ad Buy Starting Next Week

Wisconsin Right Now has learned that Tim Michels, who filed the registration form needed to run for Wisconsin governor as a Republican, has made a nearly $1 million television ad buy that will start running throughout the state next week. According to a GOP source, the Hartland businessman and co-CEO of Michels Corp., has purchased $980,000 in television advertisements for next week. Michels is a multi-millionaire who is able to self-finance his campaign. We obtained Michels' campaign registration statement from the state. You can see it here: CF-1 Campaign Registration(2) It says that he is running as a Republican for Wisconsin governor and gives his campaign treasurer as Bradley Crate. Michels helps run a major family-run construction company. He previously ran for U.S. Senate against Russ Feingold. Tim Michels Governor Ad Buy Means the TV Wars Have Started The filing makes clear what has been rumored for weeks; that Michels is running for governor as a Republican.

Ron Johnson Fundraiser at Tim Michels' Home Tonight With Diane Hendricks, Other GOP Heavyweights

Image
A fundraiser for U.S. Senator Ron Johnson will be held tonight at the home of Michels Corp. co-owner, Tim Michels. The fundraiser full of GOP heavyweights is occurring as buzz is growing that Michels is about to jump into the Wisconsin governor's race, and it features some conservative powerhouse donors, including billionaire Diane Hendricks. Wisconsin Right Now has exclusively obtained the invitation for the Ron Johnson Victory event. It should be an interesting event, with the governor's race talk escalating. Hendricks, of Beloit-based ABC Supply Co., was with Tommy Thompson when he met with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago recently, but Thompson opted not to run for governor. Michels, a major Trump and GOP donor, has also met with Trump, according to talk show host Jay Weber. It was widely believed that Thompson and Michels had decided only one of them would run. Thompson told WISN-TV that Michels told him he is running for governor now that Thompson has opted out. Tim Mic

Wisconsin State Superintendent Defends Lessons on Race, Books on LGBTQ Issues

Jill Underly’s op-ed is 572 words long. She doesn’t use the word "parent" once. Wisconsin’s state superintendent of schools is jumping to the defense of teachers and schools in the debate over race, gender and sex in the state’s classrooms. Superintendent Jill Underly wrote an op-ed Wednesday that defends what she calls “welcoming spaces.” “The way we – as leaders, as community members, as adults – talk about race, or about respecting pronouns, or about including books in libraries that address racism or those with LGBTQ+ characters, have an impact. When the adults in charge – those who make policy, or run for office, or serve on boards – speak negatively and encourage harassment of students with disabilities, or of students because of their gender, immigration status, race, sexuality or gender identity, it makes life harder for students,” Underly wrote. “These are children! And when adults sit passively without calling out these harmful behaviors, they are no differe

Feds Offering 80% Less in Oil & Natural Gas Lease Sales, Increasing Royalty Rate

The U.S. Department of Interior announced it is making only 20% of eligible acreage for oil and natural gas production available for leasing on federal lands to comply with a federal court order. In his first week in office, President Joe Biden issued an executive order directing new oil and natural gas leases on public lands and waters to be halted by the Interior Department. The agency was also tasked to review existing permits for fossil fuel development. The administration was sued and last June, a federal judge in Louisiana struck down the executive order. Issuing lease sales, the agency said, was “in compliance with an injunction from the Western District of Louisiana.” The sales would focus on the “highest and best use of America’s public lands, reflecting an 80 percent reduction from nominated acreage” and “reflects the balanced approach to energy development and management of our nation’s public lands,” the agency said in a news release. On Friday, the Bureau of Land M

Biden Administration Will Fight to Keep Mask Mandate for Planes, Trains and Airports

The U.S. Department of Justice has appealed a federal judge’s ruling overturning the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) mask mandate on planes, trains, and airports. In her ruling to overturn the mandate, U.S. District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle called the CDC mandate “unlawful,” saying the Biden administration did not follow proper procedures and went beyond its authority in making the rule. "But the mandate exceeded the CDC's statutory authority, improperly invoked the good cause exception to notice and comment rulemaking, and failed to adequately explain its decisions," she wrote in her ruling. The Biden administration challenge comes after the CDC called on the DOJ to file the appeal. “To protect CDC’s public health authority beyond the ongoing assessment announced last week, CDC has asked DOJ to proceed with an appeal in Health Freedom Defense Fund, Inc., et al., v. Biden, et al,” the CDC said Wednesday. “It is CDC’s continuing assessment
